Kings Guard Out Four-to-Six Weeks!

Malik Monk has found great success in Sacramento after signing with the Kings in the summer of 2022. Monk would sign with the Kings on a two-year, $19.4 million deal. In his first season with the Kings, Malik Monk averaged 13.5 points per game while shooting 44.8% from the field and 35.9% from three-point range. Monk was a huge spark off the bench and was a huge contributor in ending the Kings sixteen year playoff drought.

Fast forward to this season, Monk has been having a career year, averaging a career high 15.4 points per game and 5.1 assists per game. In a recent matchup against the Dallas Mavericks, early in the first quarter, Malik Monk went to contest Luka Doncic who was driving to the basket. As Monk landed, Doncic fell on top of him and would leave the game without being able to return to action. It was reported by Adrian Wojnarowski that Malik Monk has been diagnosed with a sprained right MCL and
is expected to miss four-to-six weeks.

This is a huge loss for the Kings as they will be missing their biggest bench piece. The Kings are currently 42-31, the eighth seed in the Western Conference. With the season coming to a close it is looking like the Kings will finish in the Play-In Tournament and will have to play extra games to qualify for the playoffs. It was already announced that Kevin Huerter will miss the rest of the season after undergoing a shoulder surgery. It will take a collective effort for the Kings to even make the playoffs without a couple of their dangerous scoring guards.
