Devin Booker To the Knicks?

The Phoenix Suns faced a disappointing and embarrassing early exit, getting swept in the first-round of the NBA playoffs against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Many saw Phoenix as a championship contender especially after the acquisition of Bradley Beal. Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal are known as high prolific scorers and fans could not comprehend how teams were going to guard this big three. However, the Minnesota Timberwolves had the overall best defensive rating this season and they did not allow those three scorers to catch a rhythm throughout the series. After getting swept by Minnesota, many wonder what will Phoenix do now when they have little to no flexibility.

The Phoenix Suns do not have a draft pick of their own until 2030. Next season, the Suns will be paying nearly $150 million in salary just for Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal alone. Little cap space room, none of their own draft picks, the Suns' future is in question. Many are wondering if the Suns are willing to trade one of the big three players and Stephen A. Smith mentioned that Devin Booker is eyeing the New York Knicks.

Stephen A. Smith said on ESPN, "[Devin Booker] might deny it, I haven't spoken to him. I'm just telling you the scuttlebutt in the NBA circles is that brother wanna be in New York." He later on clarified that it wasn't Booker's camp, no one close to him or even Booker himself that told him this information but from another source. He also clarified that Devin Booker isn't going to demand a trade but if Phoenix were to look into moving on from him then New York is a place Booker is willing to go. According to Suns writer Gerald Bourguet the Knicks are "willing to offer almost anything" for Booker and the Knicks have multiple first-round picks and lots of high quality players to offer.

Another piece of information from Gerald Bourguet is that Devin Booker wants to spend his entire career on one team, just like the great Kobe Bryant. NBA fans know that Kobe, who spent his entire career with the Los Angeles Lakers, is Devin Booker's idol. While Booker wishes to fulfill on that, that doesn't rule out the possibility of him going elsewhere to compete for a championship. The Phoenix Suns have a rough summer coming up with a lot of difficult business decisions to make.
