Can the Cavs Get Back to the Promise "Land"?

Image
The Cleveland Cavaliers just had their best season since LeBron James left in 2018. In the summer of 2022 the Cavs put all their chips in and traded for All-Star Guard Donovan Mitchell. In return the Utah Jazz received Forward Lauri Markkanen, Guard Collin Sexton (via. sign-&-trade), Guard Ochai Agbaji, three unprotected future first-round picks and two first-round pick swaps. This past season went amazing for the Cavaliers as they would go 51-31 (4th in the Eastern Conference). This was the first time the Cavaliers have made the playoffs without LeBron on the roster since 1998. The backcourt of Mitchell and Garland worked amazing. They developed great chemistry on and off the court. The Cavaliers would face off against the New York Knicks in the first-round of the 2023 NBA playoffs. While the young Cavs team had a great regular season they struggled in the playoffs especially from long range as they only made 33% of their threes. Even Cavs Center Jarrett Allen admitted &

A New Era in Washington

Bradley Beal and John Wall were one of the most exciting backcourts in the NBA. However luck was not on their side as they would battle through many injuries. The duo spent eight years together in Washington until the Wizards decided it was time to move on. On December 2nd, 2020 the Wizards traded John Wall to Houston for All-Star Guard Russell Westbrook. This move indicated that this was now Bradley Beal's franchise. The Wizards did make the playoffs with Russell Westbrook but were later eliminated in the first-round in just five games against the Philadelphia 76ers. Beal would spend just two more seasons with the Wizards, miss the playoffs in both seasons, until both parties ultimately decided it was time to move on. This past summer Beal was traded to the Phoenix Suns. The former Wizard guard expressed much gratitude to the organization and its fanbase for all the love he had received in his eleven year tenure.            With the Wizards moving on from Beal it was a

Are the Lakers Back On Track?

Image
The Los Angeles Lakers have had a couple tough seasons since their 2020 championship. The season after their championship the Lakers [and the Heat] had the shortest off-season in sports history. During the 2020-21 season the Lakers experienced a load of injuries especially with Anthony Davis and LeBron James. LeBron missed 27 out of 72 games and Anthony Davis missed 36 out of 72 games. The Lakers went 12-15 without LeBron and 19-17 without Anthony Davis. The Lakers finished the 2020-21 season with a 42-30 record (7th seed in the Western Conference). The Lakers would beat the Golden State Warriors in their first play-in matchup and were set up to face the Phoenix Suns. During their first round matchup Davis and James just weren't the same after being banged up for most of the season. They would lose in the first round against the Phoenix Suns in six games. It would be the first time LeBron's career that he has been eliminated in the first round.           The followi

Hot Summer in Phoenix

The Phoenix Suns had an eventful off-season. To begin with, the Suns traded for All-Star Guard Bradley Beal. Sending Guard Chris Paul, Guard Landry Shamet, four future first-round pick swaps and six future second-round picks to the Washington Wizards, Paul was later traded to Golden State. The Suns also acquired Guard Jordan Goodwin and Forward Isaiah Todd in the trade along with Beal, Todd was later shipped to Memphis.                                After the trade the Suns only had six players under contract and four of them were max contracts. The big question everybody had about Phoenix is how were they going to fill out their bench with a tough cap space situation? But Phoenix did an outstanding job filling out their roster. They re-signed Guard/Forward Josh Okogie, signed Guard/Forward Eric Gordon, re-signed Guard Damion Lee, signed Center Drew Eubanks, signed Center Chimezie Metu, signed Forward Yuta Watanabe, signed Forward Keita Bates-Diop and s

Summer in Buzz City

This past season the Charlotte Hornets were one of the worst teams in the league, finished the season with a record of 27-55 (14 th   in the East). Even though the Hornets have never been known as a winning team they were without one of their best players. Hornets Forward Miles Bridges was not on the Hornets roster throughout the 2022-23 season as he was taking care of a legal issue. Fast forward to free agency, on July 7 th   Miles Bridges officially signed a 1-year, $7.9 million contract to return to Charlotte. The last time we saw Miles on the court he was playing some of the basketball of his young career. Averaging career highs across the board with 20 PPG, 7 RPG, & 4 APG. To me it was no surprise to see the Hornets digress as they were without Bridges. Now the Hornets and Bridges could not agree on a long-term deal but for Bridges to sign his qualifying offer shows he is ready to bet on himself and prove to the organization he can still ball and hel

Are the Sacramento Kings Contenders?

Image
Last season the Sacramento Kings were the most surprising team in the entire league. Before last season began the Kings have been known to be one of the worst franchises in the NBA, having missed the playoffs for 16 straight seasons. Last summer the Kings made moves that would later show a huge turning point for the franchise.  Starting with the head coach. Last season the Kings fired Head Coach Luke Walton after 2 seasons (the Kings had a record of 92-134 with Walton as their Head Coach). They then hired Golden State Warriors assistant coach Mike Brown. The Kings did not stop there as they had to make some improvements to the roster. First, the NBA Draft, with the number 4 overall pick the Kings took Forward Keegan Murray from Iowa State. Later, in free agency, they signed Guard Malik Monk to a 2-year, $19.4 Million dollar deal. Next, the Kings traded for Guard/3-pt specialist Kevin Huerter. It is amazing how the Kings were able to gain such a high-quality player while not having to g
