Pascal Siakam Is A Pacer!

It is officially the end of an era for the Toronto Raptors. Pascal Siakam has been mentioned in trade rumors for most of the season. While Siakam's wish was to stay with the Raptors, the business of the NBA tends to interfere with wishes. It has been announced that Pascal Siakam has been traded to the Indiana Pacers.

Pascal Siakam was drafted by the Toronto Raptors in 2016 with the twenty-seventh overall pick. He was a huge piece in helping the Raptors win their first ever NBA championship in 2019 against the Golden State Warriors. After winning a championship he was named an NBA All-Star in 2020 and again in 2023. Siakam has also made All-NBA twice, All-NBA Second Team in 2020 and then All-NBA Third Team in 2022. Siakam has accomplished a lot in his eight years in the NBA, now he will join a rising young team in Indianapolis.

Full trade details: The Indiana Pacers acquire forward Pascal Siakam and a 2024 second round pick (from New Orleans). The Toronto Raptors acquire Bruce Brown, Jordan Nwora, Kira Lewis Jr (from New Orleans) and three first-round picks (two in 2024, one in 2026). With the Raptors trading OG Anunoby a few weeks ago and now Pascal Siakam, the Raptors acquired a bunch of solid young players and multiple draft picks. The Raptors may not be done making moves yet as Bruce Brown, who is included in the Siakam deal, is a "prime candidate" to get rerouted.

Pascal Siakam is on the final year of his deal and can enter free agency this next summer. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, "Pascal Siakam is excited about the deal to the Pacers and expected to be eager to work out a new contract with the franchise this summer." The Indiana Pacers have a ton of cap space to work with to satisfy Siakam. He will now pair up with All-Star guard Tyrese Haliburton and big man Myles Turner. The Indiana Pacers are currently 23-17, the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.
