De'Aaron Fox Rejected Contract Extension!

After nearly two decades of being one of the worst teams in the NBA, the Sacramento Kings have finally found success and are looking to take the next step. The first step was obviously making the playoffs which they did last season for the first time after 16 seasons of not making the playoffs. That playoff drought was the longest playoff drought in NBA history. One of the reasons for the Kings' success last season was De'Aaron Fox playing at an All-Star level and he could be looking to taking that All-NBA leap this season.

It was recently reported by Chris Hayes that De'Aaron Fox turned down an extension before this season started. According to Hayes, Fox's reasons were of hopes to making an All-NBA team and earning more money. Fox still has three seasons, including this current season, left on his current deal but he could have signed a 2-year, $105 Million extension. If Fox makes an All-NBA team then he will be eligible for a 4-year, $245 Million supermax. So far this season Fox is averaging 30.3 points per game, which is the 4th highest in the league currently, and the Kings are currently the 5th seed in the Western Conference.

If Fox continues this high production and the Kings continue to win then the voters will have to acknowledge him as an All-NBA candidate. The Kings are still a solid team as they look to prove this season that last season was not a fluke. After making the playoffs for the first time in 16 seasons the next step for the Kings is to win a playoff series. The last time they've won a playoff series was in 2004 against the Dallas Mavericks. Sacramento still has a great team in a tough Western Conference so it's going to be exciting to see where they finish and how better they can be in any potential playoff matchup.
