Dillon Brooks is On Fire!

Dillon Brooks made a name for himself last season but not in the best way. He was known for poking bears and sloppy offense. In the playoffs for the Memphis Grizzlies, Brooks averaged 11 points while shooting 31% from the field and 24% from 3. Last season Brooks was on the final year of his deal and after how things ended in the playoffs many NBA fans thought we will never see Brooks in the NBA again but after making Second-Team All Defense he was able to make his way back.

This past summer Brooks signed a 4-year, $86 Million deal with the Houston Rockets. The Rockets made it a priority to bring in veterans for the young guys. Along with Brooks the Rockets signed Fred VanVleet, Jeff Green, Aaron Holiday and Jock Landale. Another important fact to know is that Brooks' deal is fully-guaranteed. The reaction from the fans was that the Rockets overpaid, it was a mistake to sign him or more Dillon Brooks memes on the way.

In his preseason Rockets debut, Brooks wasted no time in letting the city of Houston know of his reputation, he got ejected from the game against the Pacers after elbowing Daniel Theis in the manhood area just five minutes into the game. Fast forward to the regular season, the Rockets have had some early struggles however with a bunch of new players and new coaching staff it is going to take some time to adjust to one another. From an individual standpoint, Dillon Brooks has been on fire offensively. In the first five games of the regular season he has averaged 18 points while shooting 60% from the field and 60% from 3-point range. While keeping that high of efficiency is tough, Brooks has improved on his shot making so his offense is looking more reliable with the Rockets than when he was with the Grizzlies.

While he has improved offensively, Brooks is still doing his job on the defensive end. While his offense was sloppy last season there is a legitimate reason as to why he made All-Defense. So far, early into the season, Brooks is averaging nearly two steals a game. Brooks is not like Jaren Jackson Jr, who just chases to block shots. Brooks gets physical, makes things tough on the player he is guarding and heavily contests shots.
