Grizzlies' Big Man Out For the Season

Grizzlies starting Center Steven Adams has been sidelined since the month of January with a knee injury. Adams missed all of the second half of the regular season including the playoffs. Adams initially injured his posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and he was receiving treatment, specifically non-operative rehabilitation but it did not do much help as the Grizzlies hoped. It was just announced by the team that Adams will undergo season-ending surgery. The Grizzlies also announced that Adams is expected to make a full recovery ahead of next season.

There is some other news regarding another Grizzlies big man and injury. Brandon Clarke injured his achilles early in the month of March in a game against the Denver Nuggets. Clarke was sidelined for the remainder of the season including the postseason. It was announced during media day by the Grizzlies that Clarke would not be back on the court for the start of this upcoming season. While he has not been ruled out for the season it is still unclear when it is possible Clarke may return.

A reminder that the Grizzlies will be without Ja Morant for the first 25 games of the regular season. Now with the absences of Adams and Clarke the Grizzlies are going to have to collectively keep their heads above water in a very competitive Western Conference. The additions of Marcus Smart and Derrick Rose will provide great veteran leadership for the young guys as they try to win games without many key players. The Memphis Grizzlies have done a lot talking these past couple seasons now lets see if they can back it up with all the adversity they will face to start the season.
