McGee Is a King!

People forget that JaVale McGee is a three-time NBA Champion (2017, 2018 & 2020). The 7-foot big man is still a solid player that can provide on a contending team. During the 2021-22 season McGee played for the Phoenix Suns and helped them win 64 games in the regular season and the Suns had the best record in the NBA that season. McGee played primarily as the backup Center but still provided some solid production. McGee averaged 16 MPG, 9 PPG, 7 RPG, 1 APG and 1 BPG during the regular season playing for the Phoenix Suns. Heading into the post season the Suns had high championship aspirations especially with having the best record in the league but would have their championship hopes smashed by the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Semi-Finals, losing in a game 7 blowout.

In the summer of 2022 McGee was a Free Agent and would later sign with the Dallas Mavericks on a 3-year, $17.2 Million contract. This would be McGee's second stint with the Mavericks. As the season went on McGee would find himself in and out of the rotation, only playing in 42 games during the regular season. The Mavericks would have a disappointing end to their season by missing the playoffs entirely, didn't even make the play-in tournament. This past summer, in regards of the Mavericks and McGee, it was rumored that the Mavericks planned to waive McGee and then on August 29th it became official, the Mavericks waived him.

Shortly after being waived JaVale McGee would sign a 1-year, $3.1 Million contract with the Sacramento Kings. At first, at least in my opinion, I thought this was a questionable signing because the Kings had re-signed Alex Len, signed Nerlens Noel to a partially-guaranteed deal and signed Neemias Queta, who played for the Stockton Kings this past year [Sacramento Kings G-League affiliated team], to a standard contract which was also partially-guaranteed. For a moment the Kings had five Centers on the roster which does not seem like a good idea. Shortly after McGee signed with the Kings, Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Kings had waived Nerlens Noel and Neemias Queta. Now the Kings' center depth is established heading into this upcoming season with Sabonis, Len and McGee which is a solid depth chart at the center position. This Kings still have a few roster spots open so they are not done yet. The Sacramento Kings are going to make some noise in the Western Conference!
