Hot Summer in Phoenix

The Phoenix Suns had an eventful off-season. To begin with, the Suns traded for All-Star Guard Bradley Beal. Sending Guard Chris Paul, Guard Landry Shamet, four future first-round pick swaps and six future second-round picks to the Washington Wizards, Paul was later traded to Golden State. The Suns also acquired Guard Jordan Goodwin and Forward Isaiah Todd in the trade along with Beal, Todd was later shipped to Memphis.

After the trade the Suns only had six players under contract and four of them were max contracts. The big question everybody had about Phoenix is how were they going to fill out their bench with a tough cap space situation? But Phoenix did an outstanding job filling out their roster. They re-signed Guard/Forward Josh Okogie, signed Guard/Forward Eric Gordon, re-signed Guard Damion Lee, signed Center Drew Eubanks, signed Center Chimezie Metu, signed Forward Yuta Watanabe, signed Forward Keita Bates-Diop and signed Forward/Center Bol Bol. When you look at some of the names it is quite surprising that the Suns got them to sign minimum deals. On paper this looks like the team that should clear through the Western Conference but what appears on paper can be drastically different than what may transpire on the court. With the Suns giving up a drastic amount of draft picks the Suns are clearly going all in to win a championship. Anything less than a championship will be considered a failure for the Phoenix Suns. The Suns will start the season at Golden State on October 24th. From there we shall see how the team unfolds.
