BREAKING NEWS: Mikal Bridges Traded To the Knicks!

The New York Knicks just brought in another Villanova alumni, adding to the gauntlet. As reported by NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the Knicks are acquiring Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Bojan Bogdanovic, four unprotected first-round picks (2025, 2027, 2029, 2031), an unprotected pick swap in 2028, a top-four protected 2025 first-round pick via Bucks and a second-round pick in 2025. The Knicks also get a 2026 second-round pick along with Bridges. The Nets were reluctant to trade him as teams were consistently monitoring his availability. Now he reunites with his college teammates Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Donte DiVincenzo.

It was reported by Ian Begley that the Nets did not want to trade Bridges to the Knicks but his side was prepared to force the issue by telling other teams that he wanted New York and New York only. The Knicks had an outstanding regular season and had a legitimate chance to make the Eastern Conference Finals but their chances were ruined after a variety of injuries. Matter of fact, Bridges has not missed a game in his professional career and he's been in the league for six seasons now. The Knicks gave up a lot to acquire him but it was simply an offer the Nets couldn't refuse, beating offers from other teams.

Bridges averaged career-highs in points with Brooklyn since he was the number one option offensively but as he will have to take a step back with the Knicks, that's a role he is still familiar with. After four seasons with the Phoenix Suns, he was mainly the third option. It's going to take some time, after free agency, to see how the Knicks roster fully looks like to know where Bridges' role lies. Even if his touches go down tremendously, he is an excellent defender so he will be very reliable to his new team.
