Hawks All Star Guard Undergoes Surgery!
The Atlanta Hawks have had a disappointing season so far including the last couple years. The Hawks made it to the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2021 playoffs but since then they have been serious underachievers. The Hawks are currently 25-32, the tenth seed in the Eastern Conference. Now it was reported by Shams Charania that Trae Young will undergo ligament tear surgery on his left hand and will be re-evaluated in four weeks.
Trae Young is having an incredible season despite the Hawks' lack of success. He is averaging 26.4 points per game, which is ranked eleventh in the league. He is also averaging 10.8 assists per game, which is ranked second in the league. He originally was not named an All-Star this year but given the injuries of Julius Randle and Joel Embiid, he filled in one of the open slots.
The Atlanta Hawks have the twelfth toughest schedule for the remainder of the season. Given that they haven't been successful with Trae Young and his great production, can only imagine how they'll struggle without him. The offense is going to have to heavily rely on Dejounte Murray, Jalen Johnson and Bogdan Bogdanovic. If the Hawks drop in the standings then the Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets will look to make a push for the tenth seed and qualify for the play-in tournament.
