Grizzlies Guard Injury Update!
It was already announced that Ja Morant will miss the remainder of the season due to a shoulder injury and Marcus Smart will miss significant time due to a finger injury but the Memphis Grizzlies cannot catch a break. It was recently announced that Desmond Bane will miss at least six weeks due to an ankle injury. "Bane has been diagnosed with a Grade 3 left ankle sprain, which he sustained during the third quarter of the January 12 game against the LA Clippers." Bane has had a bigger role this season with Ja Morant being suspended for the first twenty-five games of the season and all the injuries the Grizzlies have been dealing with, but now without him the Grizzlies look hopeless.
Desmond Bane has been known as one of the best three-point shooters in the league but given the bigger role he's had to fulfill this season, his game has elevated. So far this season Bane is averaging career highs in points (24.4) and assists (5.3). Despite Bane's great efforts, the Grizzlies have struggled to string wins and make up ground in the standings. The Grizzlies' backcourt is looking depleted with no Ja Morant for the season, no Marcus Smart, no Desmond Bane and no Derrick Rose.
The Grizzlies have struggled since the start of the season and are currently 14-25, the thirteenth seed in the Western Conference. They have been dealing with so much adversity since the start of the season and when they got Ja Morant back it looked like maybe there is still hope for the Grizzlies. Given all the injuries, all hope looks destroyed in Memphis. The Western Conference is looking competitive with a bunch of teams fighting to stay in the playoff/play-in picture and it is hard to imagine the Grizzlies getting in now.
