Clint Capela On the Move?
The Atlanta Hawks have been terrible so far this season and it would be no surprise if they make a lot of moves as we are less than a month away from the NBA trade deadline. It has already been reported that Dejounte Murray is available in trade talks but the Hawks have another big name asset. Clint Capela is one of the league's best rebounders, averaging 10.5 rebounds per game so far this season. He is ranked seventh in the NBA this season in rebounds per game and is ranked seventh in total rebounds per game this season with 390 total rebounds.
Clint Capela has not been deemed "untouchable" in trade talks and there are many teams who are monitoring his situation. According to source Brett Siegel, "the Lakers, Knicks, Rockets, and Kings are teams to monitor in the Clint Capela sweepstakes." Capela was drafted by the Rockets in 2014 and would spend his first six seasons in Houston. Brett Siegel also mentioned that the Rockets are interested in a Capela reunion. Clint Capela would add significant improvement to the Rockets' center depth.
Clint Capela is not only a great rebounder but he is also a great shot blocker. This season Capela is tied for twelfth in blocks per game, averaging 1.7. Capela is ranked eleventh in total blocks this season with sixty-three blocks. He is a huge force in the paint and will take on anybody who challenges him.
The Atlanta Hawks are currently 16-23, the eleventh seed in the Eastern Conference. Statistically, the Hawks are not far from getting back to the playoff/play-in picture but they look ready to make some moves. With their current roster, even if the were to make the postseason, they do not look like a team that can compete with the other top teams. February 8th is the NBA trade deadline so expect the Atlanta Hawks to be active.
