The Orlando Magic Are Stacking Wins!

        The Orlando Magic have become the most surprising team in the NBA. Last season the Magic were at the bottom of the league, 13th in the Eastern Conference (34-48). This season, the Orlando Magic are currently the second seed in the Eastern Conference with a 14-5 record. The Magic are currently the hottest team in the entire league as they have won nine straight. 



        The Orlando Magic are still a young team but their young guys are taking the next leap as individuals but also as a team. One of the factors in their early success has been veteran leadership. This past summer the Magic signed ten year Forward veteran Joe Ingles. Ingles is best known for his time in Utah and was a big piece for them especially in the playoffs. He brings a lot of leadership and playoff experience for this young Magic team, every young team needs great veteran leadership. 



        Another factor in the Magic's early success is their bench. Guys like Cole Anthony, Gary Harris, Joe Ingles and Moritz Wagner have provided great production off the Magic bench. Anthony Black, the Magic's rookie, has provided some solid production for the Magic in his small minutes of action. The Magic are one of the deepest teams in the league. 



        The Magic are on a nine game winning streak which ties a franchise best. During this winning streak the Magic have beaten some tough teams such as the defending champs Denver Nuggets, a high scoring Pacers team, the Raptors and the Celtics. All of these games are proving that the Magic are becoming a legit team and have risen as a team looking to make the playoffs. Making the playoffs would be the next phase for this young Magic team and would be a sign of great success. We shall see where this team finishes near June, still got a whole lot of basketball to play.

Dallas is Looking Ready for Redemption

          The Dallas Mavericks ended their season in a very embarrassing fashion. At the trade deadline the Mavericks made a big move trading for All Star Guard Kyrie Irving sending Guard Spencer Dinwiddie, Forward Dorian Finney-Smith, one first-round pick and two second-round picks to Brooklyn. The Mavericks also acquired Forward Markieff Morris in the deal. While the Mavericks gave up some of their defense this trade was expected to boost their offense. Before the trade the Mavericks had a record of 29-26 (5th in the Western Conference). While a Irving-Doncic backcourt was predicted to be unstoppable the results said otherwise. The Mavericks would go 9-16 after the trade deadline, when they acquired Kyrie Irving, they would finish the season 38-42 and finish 11th in the Western Conference thus eliminating them from playoff contention. Dejounte Murray On the Trade Block?

          The Atlanta Hawks have been horrible this season, especially for a team with so much talent. A couple summer ago the Hawks traded for Dejounte Murray, pairing him with Trae Young. Murray is a solid scorer and a great defender but his impact on the Hawks hasn't been as significant as the Hawks had hoped. The Atlanta Hawks are currently 14-21, the twelfth seed in the Eastern Conference.            Dejounte Murray is on the final year of his current deal but this past summer he signed a 4-year, $114 million contract extension, with the final year being a player-option. Given the lack of success the Hawks have had, Murray has been made available in trade talks. As of right now, teams that have shown interest in Dejounte Murray are the Los Angeles Lakers and the Philadelphia 76ers.
