Kicking Off the New Season!

Opening night is always an exciting night for NBA fans all around the world. After four months of no NBA basketball we have officially kicked off a brand new season. With the Denver Nuggets being the defending champions they obviously played on opening night and began their season facing up the Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron and the Lakers watched Denver, the team that beat them in the Western Conference Finals, hang up their banner in the rafters and receive their championship rings.

While the Lakers went up to Denver with the goal of spoiling the defending champs' special opening night, the Lakers just couldn't keep up with the Nuggets. Anthony Davis had 17 points shooting 6 for 11 from the field (55%) and 1 for 1 from 3 point range (100%). While AD has an outstanding first half performance he went cold in the second half scoring 0 points and going 0 for 6 from the field. Of course it is just the first game of the season but if the Lakers need to heavily rely on LeBron James again, who will be 39 years old this season, then the Lakers could be in for a wild and stressful season.

On the other side, the Denver Nuggets were rolling on the offensive end. All the Nuggets starters finished the game in double figures. Nikola Jokic, the reigning Finals MVP, went for 29 points shooting 12 for 22 form the field (55%) and 3 for 5 from 3 point range (60%), 13 rebounds and 11 assists. Jokic finished last season with the most triple-doubles, 29 in total, and he is just picking up where he left off right from the jump. Jokic continues to display his dominance and does not look to be slowing down.
