Will Cleveland Move On From Jarrett Allen?

The Cleveland Cavaliers won their first playoff series without LeBron James since 1993. They matched up against a young Orlando Magic team, a franchise making the playoffs for the first time in four years. It was a series where the home team won every game, finishing with the Cavaliers winning in seven. After four games, Jarrett Allen would be sidelined after suffering a rib injury which moved Evan Mobley to center.

The Cavaliers would face the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals, missing Jarrett Allen for the entire series. While they lost after five games, Evan Mobley showed he is the future of the franchise. He averaged 21.4 points and 9.4 rebounds per game in the semi-finals, shot over 60 percent from the field in every game, and scored a playoff career-high 33 points in game five. He showed how talented he is in one of the biggest stages in the NBA.

Mobley will be eligible for a contract extension this summer and all signs indicate that the Cavaliers are ready to offer him a max. With the franchise ready to commit to the young big man some are wondering what will this mean for Jarrett Allen's future? He is still under contract for two more seasons with an average salary of $20 million. Many teams around the league have already shown interest in Allen, monitoring his availably in trade talks, and are ready to make an offer. This will be an interesting summer for the Cavaliers as there are also questions about Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland's future.
