Houston Rockets Eliminated From Contention!

After a loss to the Dallas Mavericks it was official that the Houston Rockets will not qualify for the Play-In Tournament therefore missing the playoffs. Despite not making the playoffs, which was their ultimate goal for this season, the Houston Rockets have much to look forward to in the near future. For starters, their two rookies Amen Thompson and Cam Whitmore have proven that they are highly valuable additions to the young core. Amen Thompson was selected with the fourth overall pick and what stands out about him is his amazing rebounding abilities. Amen has averaged 6.3 rebounds per game this season which is fifth best among rookies.

Cam Whitmore, who was selected with the twentieth overall pick, has shown he can be a three level scoring threat and his explosive athleticism. Cam has averaged 12.3 points per game this season which is sixth best among rookies. He's been shooting 45.8% from the field and 36.1% from three-point range. Whitmore has been a big spark plug for the Rockets off the bench with his scoring ability. Some wonder how did he fall that far down in the draft but him and the Rockets ended up being a great match.

Last summer, the Houston Rockets used a lot of their cap space to sign some NBA veterans. They brought in Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks. They each provided great guidance to the young players in regards of defense, competitiveness and toughness. Those two guys definitely helped the young Rockets mature and be a tough opponent. They both signed multi-year deals last summer and their leadership still remains important.

I am not sure what exactly the Rockets need to look for in terms of adding to the team but they're heading in the right direction. The Rockets have a few picks in the upcoming NBA draft. They can look to add more young talent or use those assets in trades. The Rockets also acquired center Steven Adams before the trade deadline to add some depth for next season. With the rise of Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun, the Rockets do have a promising future if all remains intact.
