A Fight Behind the Scenes!

The Detroit Pistons recently matched up against the Phoenix Suns, Suns won the game (Suns 116, Pistons 100). The big news is not about what happened during the game, but about what happened before the game. It was reported by Shams Charania that Pistons forward/center Isaiah Stewart punched Suns center Drew Eubanks in the back tunnels of the Suns arena. Shams mentioned that Stewart and Eubanks were going chest-to-chest, exchanging words then eventually Stewart threw a punch that connected to Eubanks' mouth. Police was present, had both players separated then the police had Isaiah Stewart arrested and escorted from the arena.

Phoenix police released a statement saying "Stewart was arrested for assault and issued a citation and released. The investigation remains active." The NBA is also looking into the situation as they are reviewing security footage of the incident. Stewart has missed the last eight games due to an ankle injury. This is not the first time we have seen Stewart's temper get the best of him.

On November 21st, 2021 the Pistons matched up against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. Jerami Grant, who was on the Pistons at the time and is now with the Portland Trail Blazers, was shooting a free throw. After Grant shot his free throw, LeBron James was boxing out Isaiah Stewart and accidentally hit Stewart in the face with his elbow. Stewart was bleeding due to the contact and was actually looking to start a fight. Usually NBA players just talk tough but do not actually look to fight, Stewart looks to actually fight and his anger got the best of him now in Phoenix.

Isaiah Stewart was drafted by the Pistons in 2020 with the sixteenth overall pick. Stewart is on the last year of his rookie deal and last summer he signed a four year, $60 million contract extension. Stewart is a big piece of this Pistons young core but he has got to get his anger in control. It is one thing to play with an edge but when things hash out then that's a problem.
